Another Leaking Question on an X22
« on: July 12, 2011, 21:30:26 pm »
I have had a slight leak over the last 2 years that I could never find.  Over the weekend while I had the boat in a slip, I found the ever so slight trickle, but I am not sure on the next step. The leak is coming from a little vent at the back of the boat by the rubber exhaust hoses.  The little vent is on the side of the bilge, I covered the vent with duct tape and leaked stopped, but after five or six hours in the slip I noticed that the carpet above and to the right of the vent was soaked.  Question 1 What is that vent?  Question 2 Why would there be water leaking out of it?

Does your boat have GPS or something other than pitot tube pickups for the speedometers?  If so, it may be where the tubes went through the hull and now might need to be plugged.  Do you have a picture of the vent?  I'm having a hard time remembering anything besides the drain plug, pitots/tubes and rubber exhaust flaps under the teak platform on my '99 E22.

Do not have GPS.  The vents are right underneath the gas tank on each side of the bilge.  I found when I pulled up the bench seat at the back and pulled up the floor.

Do you have a shower? If so check connections and make sure it is fully turned off when not in use.

What is your hull number? The vent as you call it is the chrome covers for the spedo hoses. If the hoses are gone then there are holes in your boat......Find the hoses in the trunk ...

SOETCO76K900 is my Hull ID.  They appear to be blackplastic vents.  I will get my wife digital camera and take a picture.

On either side of the gas tank, in the hull 'floor' there are fresh air and exhaust air ports; maybe 3" in diameter.  The ports should tie to the upper back vents(in the transom) via flexible black 'duct' hose. The exhaust has the blower connected to it. Are these what your talking about?

Capt. Rick did you get my email with the pictures?  I tried to post them on the board but couldn't get to load.
