SX Fuel Consumption
« on: July 29, 2011, 16:36:03 pm »
Should the SX burn the same amount of fuel as the chart posted in the literature section at any given RPM? I know it will be going alot slower due to the different transmission, but is the fuel flow the same at any given RPM for all Epics, regardless of which model and transmission?

Here's the chart I'm referring to:

i personally would forget about the chart. they get great "fuel consumption" but the chart is in another world. my 99 E22 was excellent on fuel unloaded. add weight and it gets worse. when i got my 01 SX it got about the same unloaded as my E22 did loaded "let say 1300 lbs.". when i load up full ballast in my SX "about 2200 lbs." its not pretty. when i redesigned my ballast system my main concern was fill and empty times. and depending on the riders ability or their lack of "gas donations", i will drop ballast in a heart beat.
OVER 800 HRS ON 2 EPICS.
99 E22- Sold 2007
01 SX - Sold 2013
2014 Axis A22-Sold 2018

I was mostly curious because I was trying to determine the most efficient travel speed. I'm assuming right around 20mph is probably the most efficient speed for long range travel.

My E22 is pretty close to the chart. The gas guage went out 3 years ago, and I allow 4 gph. We live around 3,000 RPMs with wakeboarders and its tough on a rough lake to do much more than that just running around unless its a weekday with light winds.  I try to fill up before I put 6 hours on the engine, but I have pushed 6 before and never put in over 22 gallons. We carry up to 7 or 8 people, but no ballast and its a smaller boat the the SX.
