Serpentine Belt
« on: June 28, 2004, 15:56:51 pm »
IF ANYONE HAS A SPARE SERPENTINE BELT LAYING AROUND (THAT FITS A 33 X-22) I WILL BUY IT OVER YOUR COST.  hate to miss 4th of july weekend

Threw my serpentine belt this weekend.  my boat is now at 450 hours, anyone know when you are supposed to replace the belt???  just curious.

FYI:  i have seen a few of the older models like mine (99) where people have disabled the alarm horn because the oil pressure fluctuates so much that at idle the horn sometimes comes on for half a second  or so and is annoying.  BEWARE:  you could over heat your precious lexus engine very easily if you dont know how your boat is supposed to sound and you don't watch guages very carefully. (or if someone else is pulling you that doesnt know your boat) if the belt goes the exaust will be louder than normal because there will be no water flowing through it.  Having been a pilot i watch guages very carefully but i thought that this was worth mentioning.

Scott, out of curiosity...what did it cost?  I'd be curious to know also if this part is the same as on the automotive engine...I'd guess that it would be.

like $44.00 (approx).  i also ordered some other parts but i know it was mid 40's.

my mechanic (nautique dealer in moorsville nc) used to be the service mgr for the former toyota dealer.  he said its different than the auto engine because we have no air conditioning etc...  he said that if i couldnt find it he would match the size with the old belt but it would be easier if i could get the right one from toyota.

i am ordering a spare as well!

Sad you threw your belt, but happy this got brought up again! This is a part that should be included in every spares kit (right along with fuel/water separator, engine oil, ATF, gear oil, filter wrench, duct tape, plugs (not necessarily iridium), impeller, etc.

There are Mitsu and Denso part numbers on the belt, so any parts house could probably get them. I still don't have a spare but hope to fix that soon.

I bought a spare belt for our Epic 22 right after we bought it, and just picked up a blelt for a Lexus GS400.  It was within a half an inch of the belt on our engine--the raw water pump sits in the same spot as the A/C compressor, so it is a good fit.  Any auto parts store has them.
