Looking back over past ~nine years with the S22 (first boat)...I can say without qualification that I hate washing/waxing. We keep the boat so clean, wiping her down with wet rag and drying every surface each lake day seriously 90% of the time. All cushions come out each night, all gelcoat is clean each morning. We'll hit is with a water spot remover/waxer like Ducky or Hor Sauce once in a while. We vacuum each trip or two, and service religiously once a year (fluids, filters, impeller). I only fill with Chevron, cover the boat as well as possible, quickly address crumbs and drink spills. Bottom line, for being 11 years old, the boat's in fantastic shape. I'd put her up against any other 11 year old for sure. Thanks much to Matt and Chad Eden, the original owners who take the cake in terms of being clean freaks and handed be a near-new boat. But hey, we've got three kids - can't stay new forever.
However, scrubbing the carpet, washing and waxing is something we do honestly once a year or less. I hate it. It's like a full day to wash and scrub carpets, needs a couple days to dry out, and can't wax until washed and vinegared to kill Havasu's water spots. Only then are you in a position to wax and after the first day, I'm less than motivated to finish. The only nice thing is being able to use 3M Finesse to get some of the little scratches out. Still, I get (and am today) so over this evolution part way through the first day.
Thanks for listening to my rant. Curious if anyone else feels the same?
