SE Epic Roundup 2012
« on: February 05, 2012, 13:14:53 pm »
Anybody want to SCHEDULE an epic roundup this year, with actual dates?   I've had the boat for 4-5 years now and its been talked about but never followed through to the finish where us out of towners have enough time to plan.   Assuming we plan something in the Atlanta Area where most of the SE epics are.   I'd be up for a Nashville Round up but I might be the only one to show up...

Quoted from Lesman01 post last year -

1. Should we make it a family thing or a guy thing? I vote family thing
2. Should we camp or make it one day" I vote for Fri Sat camp. We can reserve several spots together and/or people could just come for the day. We can have a structured "social" group BBQ one of the nights to give everyone a rally point to be there. say 5-7PM Saturday night. Name tags, epic chochkees(still wear my hat Breakaway!), epic awards, etc...(I know pretty cheesy, but hey...)
3. Where should we meet? I vote Hartwell..seems most "central"
4. What weekend? the sooner the better(cooler) or later toward the Fall.

He's got some good points and I wanted to throw them all back out there and add my own opinion - Lets make it a weekend thing.   Everyone coming from out of town could drive in Fri night, do the roundup on a saturday/sunday morning.  Cookout on Saturday Night.   I know most the Atlanta guys can just "wing" this but everyone coming from out of town has to devote some time and effort into the trip.  Not to Mention towing a boat half way across 2 states with gas prices so, for "us" its officially a little more than a get together but more of a mini Vacation.   I like the idea of a family thing, simply because of the above reasons.  (which means we have to factor in school dates)  I'm 28 and haven't started a family yet but my old man might want to tag along and a friend or two.

As far as lakes - Which one is the easiest to get to for everyone?  Best camping/cabins access to bathrooms/showers?
