I am adding additional automated ballast to the rear of my SX22.  Any suggestions as to where to drill the one inch hole in the hull for the water pickup ?  It is a pretty scary thought to puch a big hole in the boat and I would like to avoid hitting a stringer.  Has anyone done this  ?

thanks

one of my old post "New SX Ballast System" look at the pics on the install and you can see where i drilled mine. there is also a spot about a foot closer to the bow. i put my pickup for perfect pass there.

I agree, it's a little nerve racking when you consider the clearance issues etc.

I placed mine just forward (bow side) and more central of the engine water intake.  See pic in Wake Surf Ballast Project thread on my SX.
