Another Stereo Question
« on: May 12, 2012, 01:14:53 am »
I am getting ready to do a serious stereo upgrade to my new to me SX.  I see in several of the stereo threads people have said that they have 6 in boat 6.5's.  I would like to add another set to mine, but where have you guys been putting them.  Second Question is how much weight would you be comfortable hanging on the tower?  I have my board racks and the factory bose speakers currently.  I would like to replace the factory tower speakers with a new pair, but don't want to hang to much weight up there.

Thanks
Ross

So many options. I have 2 8" JL subwoofers in the kickpanel at the port passenger storage compartment (not the cooler but more toward the stern or rear of the boat). 6.5" speakers would fit at the rear cup holder compartment on the surface that is stern of the existing speakers. I have a 10" sub under in the storage under the glovebox which is soon to be a 12" in a new box. Currently I have 2 airboom cans on the tower but it will eventually have 4.

The factory towers are the sturdiest I have ever seen so feel free to mount up to 8 speakers on it. I have seen much weaker towers with many more. See http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=789693
