I'm currently rebuilding another forum members engine and there are some corrosion issues to point out. Even with low hours. FYI all the gaskets in the engine are NOT stainless. Actually the only stainless gaskets are the headgaskets. Every other gasket is just standard Lexus automotive gaskets. The worst offenders are the four gaskets used on the front and rear coolant crossovers and the water pump. All they did for marinizing of the 1UZ was put in the stainless headgaskets and paint everything with red (I'm guessing) oxide primer and epoxy high gloss paint at least as far as the long block goes. Anytime you chip the paint there is potential for corrosion. If your going to keep you Epic's for along time i would either replace these gaskets every couple years or install a fresh water cooling system. I bought mine thinking about just how lake water can easily corroded aluminum but now I'm VERY happy I installed it given the standard gaskets in our engines.
OVER 800 HRS ON 2 EPICS.
