Finally great surf wake from SX22 !
« on: August 24, 2012, 03:05:58 am »
Going to try and attach photo from this summer surfing off of our Toyota SX22.  Took some changes to get the wake to where we wanted.  200 lbs front , starboard infloor full, 750 lbs rear starboard  3blade acme  prop raised and narrowed swim platform  10.7 mph

for some perspective rider is 6 feet tall and board is 5 and a half feet

WOW is right. Way to dial it in.  How tall do you think the wave is?

Wow! I'm Sooooo jealous. I gave up awhile back when I realized you need some depth to a lake in order to get the wave to develop. That was when my lake was 8 -10 feet deep. Right now its 5.  It looks like a lot of fun!!!

Not really sure how tall the wake is but it is atleast a couple of feet tall.  It could be firmer but overall we are really happy with the improvement this year.  Takes about 3600 RPM  to travel 10.7 MPH with Acme 449.  The rub rail is just half in the water on the starboard side, only problem so far is water coming in transom light and the toyota marine sport decal that is under water that I replaced is coming off one letter at a time

When we first starting surfing on this boat a few years ago the wake was half the hieght and we are riding not far off the swim platform, with some tuning we are 10 -12 feet  back now, the wake really compares  well to other so called wake surfing boats, if I could not   get the wake dialed in on the boat this year I was thinking of replacing, now we are good for alot more years with the toyota.

Well done.  Is it possible to duplicate that wake in an s22?  If yes, I presume that I will need to increase the 750 fat sac in starboard rear v-drive locker to _____ (the weight of ballast you have infloor on starboard side).  Please fill-in the blank.  Thanks.

Nice work!

We have a similar setup on my SX.  Here is a photo on a 10 foot lake.

I think around a 400 to 500 lb bag just beside to behind drivers seat would do it, you can overload the rear and the wake gets tall and not very firm. So I would not go above 750 in the back, also the bag goes through the side locker right to back of the boat.  With this set up it we have had any where from two people in the boat right up to 10, the photo with the biggest wake I think there were 8 in the boat at the time , the last photo there were three.  With a big group you need to move people around a little to get things just right and you need to go faster the heavier you are.

GREAT WAKE !! Surfed behind Bri Chmel's 2013 Centurion Enzo and wake was not any bigger than that! Can you post pics of your swim deck? Heading to Shasta soon and would like to dial in my S22. We have a Mastercraft X15 going too but it is not as clean on the goofy side.

That's what my surf wake looks like with just 450 in the starboard locker... That doesn't look even close to the bigs ones pictured above...
