From what I have been reading, there seems to be many different ACME props for many different applications. Is there anyway that those who post up their props can also give a small description of how it performs compared to a stock prop?

Things like:
Prop Shaft Size (What does it fit?)
Out of the hole performance
Top speed
Gas Mileage

Thanks!

I put a acme 540 on my 99 e21.  It was a totally different boat.  hole shot was soo much better.  RPM went from 5500 WOT to 6000.  better all around.  assume my gas milage suffered a little but soooo worth it.  never thought it would be that big of a difference from the stock.  once you hold each in your hand you can see how much more surface area there is in an acme.

I have the ACME 540 as well and it was a great upgrade.  It's a much smoother prop since its CNC machined as opposed to hand balanced.  Check out http://www.nettleprops.com/ , they seem to offer reasonable prices and it was local for me so was convenient.

Make sure you get the right prop rotation too, if I remember correctly the direct drive epics are RH and v-drive are LH.

For my SX, I have the Acme 449 LH at 4,500 to 6,500 elevation.  I wanted good hole shot and WOT.  Got both.  Maximum speed was sacrificed and maybe gas mileage.

I have a Acme #653 on my S22, it was a night and day difference for sure...awesome off the start, holds a way more steady speed for surfing, and WOT feels great as well.  Did not notice any huge difference in gas mileage yet.

Got an awesome deal on mine from the guys at wakemakers.com thankfully they are local to me here in Bend Oregon!

I have an Acme 515-37M on my SX. It's a custom prop that was recommended by Acme.. I believe they added additional cup to the standard 515. It's a great improvement over stock and gives an awesome hole shot.

Supraman, I see you are in Kelowna in your profile. What altitude is it where you boat? Curious about the Acme prop you are using. I dinged up my orig SX prop so time to upgrade!

I don't remember the number I have. I have the number that will handle the most ballast lol. The top end is only like 39mph at 6,000 rpm but it will plain out with anything I load in the boat. It's a 3 blade. Call them and they will recommend the right prop for you.

Cyclone, We're at about 344 m (1,129 ft). I've been happy with this prop.. I can have the factory ballast full plus 8 or 9 adults in the boat and still pull wakeboarders out of the water. IIRC, top speed at WOT according to my phone's GPS was about 39 mph and that is at about 5900 rpm. With no ballast and just a couple of passengers, 4000 rpm equals about 25 mph.

If we get a calm evening in the next couple of days, I'll take the boat out and get some exact speeds at specific rpms for you... Any other tests you'd be interested in?

Thanks for the info guys. I went with the acme 449 from Nettle props. It should arrive tomorrow. Pulled the old OJ, probably will have it rebuilt, sucks not having a spare!
