2000 X22 project boat

I love my Toyota boat and it pains me to put it up for sale, but it has become an overwhelming project I no longer have the time or patients for. My neighbors place burned to the ground Easter Sunday and managed to heat up my X22 causing some surface damage to the gel-coat and melting the cover into the upholstery. I just had the transmission rebuilt and was planning to rewire the instrument panel (getting rid of the DECC, which decides when it wants to work and not work), but with my work schedule and extra curricular activities (wife, house, kids, volunteer) I just don't see the time in my schedule to do the work. The boat engine runs strong and has less than 400 hours.  Even in the current condition, I believe it can be used if you wanted to. I have the receipt for the transmission (1400.00). Wow, pretty boat and such a shame. Hope your neighbors are getting back on their feet, what a devastating event! The boat damage looks superficial, fiberglass can be fixed, upholstery too, new rub rail etc. BUT, definitely a  great project and opportunity for someone who can take care of those issues.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm gonna ask: was it insured? Curious if your ins. co made you whole again, don't need to know what they gave you. Really sorry that this event ended your Epic ambitions for this boat. There's other boats out there:)I'm sure you can get a good price for that boat. I loved the wake behind my E22.

I met a guy a couple of years ago that had totally restored a Hydrodyne inboard ski boat. It was a beauty. It caught fire on his maiden voyage and burned to the waterline. Loose fuel line. No insurance. Nobody hurt but what a kick in the balls:(

Home owners insurance covered 1500.00. Needed a rider for the boats (watercraft) which I didn't have. Neighbors didn't have any insurance, so unless they want to be generous, add to their total loss and pay the difference, or I sue AND can prove negligence, that will be the extent of it. Lesson learned, check your policies to make sure you are covered for what you think you are covered for.

I don't really want to sell, but I am so busy working and family, plus I now collaborate on both a summer and winter ski program for disabled veterans.  I travel for events as a volunteer. We just did an event in Florida and I will be headed to Texas next month. Resources are not my issue, it's time. I wanted to enjoy this boat in the way all of you do. It is such a special boat, if I can't care for it properly, I want it to go to someone who will love it and give it it's life back. I don't want to park it and watch it die a slow death because I can't fit the repairs into my schedule.

You are correct, the damage appears to be superficial, so I don't think it will take someone with an understanding of the work that needs to be done long to get her in working order, but it will take the right person with the right kind of time to devote to it. I have a line on a newer boat (unfortunately not an Epic) that we can use this summer.
