New boat cover?
« on: August 17, 2004, 16:43:47 pm »
Where can I buy a new boat cover for the Epic 22?

The boat currently does not have a tower, but if I buy a cover that fits now, can I get the cover restiched to accomodate a tower?

I take it getting one from Toyota would be too expensive...

My old over has some broken straps and is in fair/good condition, but I'm considering a new one.

I searched this discussion board and found nothing.

I highly recommend my Rankin cover, but you cannot have them modified. You'd be better off to just order a cover that can accomodate the tower now.  It will still work the same as one that didn't have the holes for the tower...but it leaves you the option of getting the tower down the road.

Get the Rankin.  You'll be stoked, I promise.  They should already have the mold for your boat laying around -- it's the same hull as mine!

I recently had a snap on cover made by someplace that Jeremy the manager at Marine Products in Salt Lake City referred me to. Marine Products is the ex-Toyota dealer. The cover could not be better and the place is familiar with Toyotas and their covers. I think it would be worth a call to Jeremy. He's  a decent guy and could set you up.

Marine Products is at 801-973-4021.

Good luck,

My cover is also from Rankin, it is a really good cover!! Also, as VillageIdiot said, they had the pattern because they did my E22 as well.

Oops, I see now that you wanted a X22 cover, ohh well.

Check out wakeside.com. They got'em for 945 and shipping is free. Not sure if this is the best price out there though.
I too own a Rankin. It's the greatest!!

This one has the tower cutouts and a special strap, it's really nice. Probably cheaper than the Rankin. I have the one for an SX on my E22, it fits but could use a little alteration. Maybe after the season I'll get it done. The one listed above should fit perfectly. There is also one that covers the tower when it is folded down, but I never do that anyway. I can take pics if you want to see what the one with the cutouts looks like. Thanks Bitz!

I still have the original TMS Epic cover.  It tends to pool rain water behind the dd engine.  Anyone have some ideas on what works well to prop up the cover so that it drains the water?

It is a common problem with most covers, I have built several rigs out of PVC to keep the water from pooling, the latest one is similar to this:

It is still under test, I didn't glue it together and it popped apart during the rain from Katrina, but I think it'll work OK under non hurricane conditions.

Dropped my boat off yesterday for winter and Phil Dill Boats in Dallas has a cover for an E-22.  Looking to get rid of it for $150.  Seems like a heck of a deal.  They said they don't get much traffic and it has just been sitting for a long time.  Believe it is new.  I told them that I'd post it up.  Call Steve Fuller 972.436.3581 or sfuller@phildillboats.com for the specifics.

Pete, that PVC thing is so friggin ghetto!!!

Funny thing is, during our last 'rain', I decided to quit f-ing around and make one myself. Man, I wish I had a boat garage.

I know, it is totally ghetto. It doesn't work well, either. I'm going to build another one out of bigger sch 40. Super Ghetto! I'll prolly build a garage this year.

150$ for that cover is a screamin deal. It goes for around 600$
