Stickers and decals, emblems and logos
« on: September 03, 2004, 17:24:29 pm »
Lakerats reminded me in the Epic confessions thread.  But I would really like to get the discussion going around decals again.  I really want a www.epicmarine.com decal on my boat.   Cyclone got a pretty close match to the "Epic" text from the boats -- close enough that I'd be stoked to use it...

And as for the stock decals on our boats, I really am in need of new "TOYOTA Marine Sports" decals for the side of my boat, but since Dorge is gone (and sick of me anyway), I'm thinking the easiest way to get new decals is get them cut ourselves.

Anybody have any hookups in this arena?  I have an unused Red/black Toyota Marine Sports decal -- would a decal shop be able to replicate (but in all black)?  Anybody have any hookups for decals?

Anybody else ready for new decals?   :-\

Cal - I have a friend who is in the decal business (produces them for Liberty Safes).

I'll try to ask him what he would need to produce some decals and the cost.

I had my WN#'s made at a Sign Pro.  They did a great job.  Once I'm done for the year, I was thinking of having them make some Toyota symbols or some Gravity Games symbols to spice up the hull a bit.  I'll let let yall know how they turn out.  Found the Gravity Games Logo on Blindside's epic, and a good example of a Toyota Logo on Lakerats SX.  Represent!!

Hey Brent,

Any sign shop worth its salt can replicate the Toyota font right from the web site. I had my ID numbers done in the red in the exact font from the website. I am having "Toyota Epic S22" sandblasted into the cross bar of the tower I am building.

I agree, I am just getting together some artwork to do stuff like that. First off, I'm going to try to get some shift knobs like this made up. This is just a a photoshop, so the letters aren't scaled quite right. THe real ones will be cool. Anyone interested?

The real ones would be 1 7/8"  1/4" bigger than orig. Real 8 ball and the right threads. I'm waiting for a quote on the artwork.

My better half has been a CNC machinist for over 10 years, and yesterday we were just talking about making shifter knobs for Epics since ours is a little too plain for a Toyota.

Our company logo is a 3 Ball instead of an 8 ball, just out of coincidence. (www.3balldesigns.com) We were going to make an aluminum 3 ball, but he could engrave anything you'd want at the top of the knob. Aluminum, chromed, or stainless would look pretty sweet.

We have masterCAM software on this computer, perhaps he could draw one up...

As for the graphic design, just let me know what's up and I'll draw something up on Adobe Illustrator for FREE.

What font names did you guys find?

-Chasity ;)

The stock shifter knob is 1 5/8" dia, 3/8 x 24 threads. A simple polished aluminum ball with the Epic logo would be cool by me.

The fonts that are used appear to be Concielian Jet and Concielian Break. Certain letters are different from one version of the font to the next. I'm pretty sure I could dissassemble all fonts and make one that has all the correct characters. I used Concielian Break for the navigation bar, the lower case P is correct in that font. I will email you the BMP epic logo that I made.

I have the proto-types in hand.  Professionally produced labels made with 3M Scotchcal Marking Film 225, Gerber Scientific Products.  It's a three-ply system - you peel off the clear backing, apply the decal onto your boat, then peel off the alignment paper.

My boat is getting winterized, warranty work so I'm not able to apply the decal and post photo's.  I'll post photo's of the decals only.

Pete - is this the design you were hoping for?

Not sure how to handle purchasing, inventory, shipping and handling.  Each decal will be around $5.00 to $6.00 plus packaging, shipping and handling ($12.00 for a pair).

Any feedback is welcome!

The photo doesn't do the real thing justice, but you get the basic idea.  The decal is solid black.

I like that. We could build a secrtion of the site for purchasing decals and other products. Whoever wants to sell it could just get a paypal account and give me the associated email address and I could let folks buy it right off the site..

Pete - I've contacted the decal manufacturer about other color options and pricing.

Have you been able to install the decals?  Any pictures?
