misfiring motor
« on: September 10, 2004, 14:56:52 pm »
I re-read my original question and relaized that it was confusing.  The problem I have is a chronic misfirng of one cylinder.   Up until now, it would come back online after running the boat for 15 minutes or so.  This time, not such luck.  The plug looks servicable, exchanged two plugs and fired it up, the cylinder the plug was in cleared up but the other cyliner missed, indicating that the plug is the problem.  Went to my local auto parts store and they initially couldn't even find the NGK plug number anywhere.  They called a warehouse and got a replacement number, but were told they only had 6 plugs in stock.  Price wasn't bad at $8.99@ but sort of indicated that it would be a long time before they could get more.  Help?!?

When you run out of those six, we'll get the next batch lined up for you. Really, there's several spark plug threads in the archives describing how/where to get them, and even some reports of using cheapo non-iridium plugs. If this is the first time your plug's gone bad, just pony up for a new plug and go riding. Probably no reason to replace all of them, since they're normally 1000-hour plugs.

You can always get exact replacement plugs from a Lexus dealership, but they're at least $12 there.
