Oil on plugs
« on: January 01, 2022, 23:13:45 pm »
I just winterized my boat, and when I pulled the plugs to fog the cylinders, I found oil on every plug.  No water in the oil.  Where do I start to find the source?  Anyone else dealt with this?  It ran we all summer, so I was surprised.

Suggest
!.  Bore scope to look at piston tops and valves.
2. Do a Compression test.
3. Possibe seals on valve cover to plugs on coil packs dry. Vlave seals.

Were all plugs tips wet? Normally very black.
Was oil on threads and hex portion?

This is probably the plug well seals leaking. I have a couple cylinders on my boat that the seals are leaking. Thus far it hasn't caused any issues and I've generally ignored it. You can fix the issue but you have to pull the valve covers to replace the seals. It's normally the seals at the top that leak.
