Hey y'all, I hope I'll be back in full fellowship now. I have replaced the sinker SX with a new (to me anyway) floating SX. After considering the pros and cons and nearly buying a Moomba Mobius XLV, I decided to save the cash and go with reliability and what I already know well. Once I looked at other boats, I decided I was too afraid to buy something used with a chevy engine and every new boat I considered would have set me back 50K (even the XLV with the options I wanted was 48K). I am not a pro boarder and loved my SX, so I'll be back on the lake this week sportin a purple and gray 2001 SX with about 310 hours on it and warranty until April. It is immaculate and well known and cared for by the mechanics at Marine Products. By the way, if you ever need a new Toyota or want a different model, those guys can hook you up. They know who is selling and what shape the boat is in. I let them know I wanted another SX and they called me a couple of days later with the number of the guy selling this one.
By the way. The guy I bought it from had owned an X-22 prior to this SX and was only selling the SX because he has started a wakeboarding school here in Utah. He is sponsored by Hyperlite, Supra, and Marine Products and they told him he needed to get a new Supra. He's doin it but sounded pretty bummed about losing out on reliability, gas mileage and storage by making the switch. The guy is a pro freestyle snow skier and knows a few things about inverts. I figure if the Toyota boats were good enough for him at his skill level, they are well beyond what I need at my skill level. His setup by the way was to fill the factory ballast (about 700#, add 200# of lead in the bow, fill the trunk with two or three of those 5 gallon blue water jugs and drop a fat sack in the cockpit. He said this much weight for him along with 8 passengers is a primo setup in the SX.
Here are a couple of pics of my new hot rod. And thanks to Jaminhdds, my bro in law, for going along to make the purchase and taking the pics.
