That is a fact. You will lose about 2 MPH on top end, but who cares? That is due to the lost throttle motion from the throttle extension.

It works like a champ, it's like getting a new boat.

I finished up the install manual, I'll post it on the How to page tonight.

OK, lemme make sure I got this. Drop a grand for Perfect Pass, follow a very detailed 17 page document on how to install. (looks very thorough, Pete!)...which includes cutting a huge hole in the bottom of my boat! I was a basket case when drilling holes to mount my tower, by the way...

Question. Is the accuski that comes with it that bad? I think it';s around 300-500 for the linkage kit. I guess it's only gonna be as good as the stock speed gauge, which sucks so bad I have to use a GPS for speed sontrol...So... I guess that answers my question...  ::)

Oh, and welcome highflyn. Post some pics of your boat in the photo gallery

SAAAWWWEEEEEETTTTTT!!!
Although this creates another problem: Who do I blame when my lack of skill has me landing on my head all day. The wifes driving was always a good one.
Guess I have a little project to tackle this winter.
I would love to post a pick of my SX behind the Tundra, but I'm a bit of a computer retard and could not figure out how to move the pic from my computer to this ass kickin web site.  I'll keep tryin.
Thanks for the PP feed back Guy's.

To post your photos. click on the "photos" link on the left navigation. You'll neeed to register a username and password. I'd rcommend using the same one you use for this forum.

Once you register, look for the link that says "upload file" and follow the directions.

Also, there is a pretty good FAQ for it here:

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I've had the boat 17 months, been a member of Epicmarine for 17 months, and have yet to take & post a good pic of our Sequoia with the S22 behind it. Or the tiny Toy pickup doing the same (use it for mving the baot around the house sometimes.)

Drilling holes in your boat is fun! Lesman, I already bought the right size holesaw and can help you put it in if you go for it. Even if you decided you didn't like it anymore, the paddle wheel comes with a special plug that fills the hole if you pull the paddle wheel out. There is even a really cool clamshell type assembly inside the hull fitting that closes when you pull the speedo out from the top, so you could do it in the water if you were brave.

It is amazing, anybody who wakeboards needs it. I improved a bunch in the last couple of weeks of the season, just from getting a perfect pull.

Well I Did It.
I drilled a 2" hole in the bottom of my Epic 21 and installed Perfect Pass Star Gazer and an Acme 542. I followed Pete's instructions and Perfect Pass. It sure did make me nervous cutting the hole in the bottom but it went well. My hull was over 1 1/2 inches thick where I drilled the hole and had to have Perfect Pass send me another thru hull fitting and paddle wheel because of the thickness. I put the Perfect Pass display where the tach used to be and moved the tach to where the right hand speedo used to be. It took about 1 1/2 hours to calibrate perfect pass and get the throttle adjustment to idle properly. It works like a champ now. I calibrated the perfect pass on a private lake with a surveyed slalom course so the unit will be accurate no matter where I go. My buddy on the private lake was impressed by the performance and pull of the Epic through the course. It has a much better hole shot than his Mastercraft X7.
My wife allowed the investment so she could maintain speed while driving me. I can't wait to try it out at wakeboard, trick speed and air chair speed and to see how the Acme prop preforms pulling bare footers.
Thanks again Pete for the detailed instructions and the design of the bracket for the throttle.

Terry,
THat's great to hear, it is the best thing I ever did to my boat. Esp. with the relatively low power/weight ratio of Epics, you really have to work the throttle more to maintain speed. Perfect pass is the answer.

Looking forward to the trip!

THat's great. I was sweatin, too, drilling a hole in the boat. I could have used a longer thru-hull piece too, but made what came with it work. It is the answer for keeping speed while wakeboarding...

I have decided for the sake of my marriage I NEED perfect pass.  How difficult is it to do by yourself and what was the total cost?  Any donations will be accepted to keep me from going to prison.

It's not that hard to do. I did it myself and you know me....Cutting the hole in the boat was the most nerve racking part. The instructions provided are very good from perfect pass. Perfect pass pro is 1099 on their website. Make sure to call them and tell them it's for a toyota since it has to be programmed different, plus they send the throttle bracket that Pete designed!

I can help if you need it. I think i still have the hole saw bit..and i've got no problem drilling a hole in someone else's boat  ;D

It will make your life...and your marriage much better.... I know...buy it for your wife for mother's day!

I installed Perfect Pass Stargazer. Total cost including a jump switch and one timer magnet pick up is $1437.00. Perfect Pass makes several models. Call them with what your needs are and I am sure they will make suggestions on what will meet your needs. http://www.perfectpass.com/ I took my time and did some extra work will I had the whole interior out. I spent the better part of a day putting it all together. The sealant around the thru hull fitting will take a min of 23 days to cure.
