Epic 21 For Sale On Ebay
« on: March 21, 2005, 23:33:32 pm »
I went ahead and bought a 2002 S22 today!? My 1999 Epic 21 is on ebay and the auction ends? 3/22 at around 9:00 am (eastern).? It is a great boat, after I drove the S22 today I realized how much I am going to miss the 21.? If you have never driven a 21, you need to go do it!? The holeshot is incredible! (must have something to do with the 600 less pounds).? The 21 is so nimble, the razor sharp steering and accelleration will truly be missed!? It is a great boat in fantastic shape.? I just needed the open bow with the kids.? I know I am gonna love the 22, just for different reasons.? I will always a soft spot for the 21!? I did ask, and the wife said "no" on the two boats question.? So off she goes!? (the boat that is!) Ebay Item # 4535224972

It would be great for it to go to a good home!? I will post pics of the S22 when I get some.

Congrats on the purchase. I don't think you'll regret it a bit.

No doubt. You might think about putting the fact in the ad that you bought another Toyota, people are gonna wonder why you are selling such a nice boat.

Glad we didn't lose you to the dark side!

Pete,

YOU need to buy this Epic 21!  If anyone needs 2 Epics its you!  Just think, a beautiful like new 21 in your fleet, right next to your 22!  What an exciting decision to make on lake day!  Or just split the day, 1/2 in one 1/2 in the other!  And your not too far!  I would even deliver it right to your door......

was that the red S22 in Irmo SC?  Looked like a great boat.  From one S22 owner to another, you'll love it.  The S22 may not have the internal ballast like the SX, but with a few fat sacks and a few friends, the wake is the great.  Of course, sharing a hull design with the SX ensures that.
Have fun and post some pix!

yes, It was the S22 in Irmo SC.  The guy was a Toyota Rep for the region and took great care of the boat.  It is in fantastic condition!  The weather was foul, but we took it for a short ride anyway. (How do people buy boats without driving them??)

As always the Toyota Quality was fantastic!  Driving the S22 and the Epic 21 are extremely different.  The whole "feel" is different.  Its gonna take awhile to get used to the new rig.

I was just going through the setup of the S22 and transferring my gear from the 21 in the storage building tonight.  It was great looking at both of them,  One of the first Epics ever built (1999 Epic 21) and One of the last (2002 S22).  What a crime!  I can't beleive they stopped making them. I really don't think there is anything out there built today with this quality.  And no one will have the cahones to drop a Lexus V8 in one!

Maybe if I just lay low for awhile, my wife will forget about selling the 21........

Sorry, but Cal called it....

....TAKE SOME PICTURES of that sweet beast before you sell her off into the cold, dark night. I'd be interested in just about everything about it, from what the hull running surface looks like underneath to what the bow storage area looks like. In fact, I don't even know what the cockpit looks like.

I skied behind and then drove a friend's older Malibu Response (sort of open bow), and it had the Mosson 320 in it. That engine moves the Sunsetter, so when you put it in that little beast, it plain hauls. I do remember how ratty the thing felt, though, in the steering, throttle linkage, rattles throughout the little cockpit, etc. Had to replace a fuel pump that weekend, which kept his boat down, and him on our boat the two days we were camping. Anyhoo, that little boat threw the most amazing micro wake I could imagine. Soft, flat with round edges. Despite swearing off slalom earlier in the year (and not having any real time on the ski for some years), I had the best run of my life behind that thing. Funny what a non-wake will do for holding your edge ;-)

That's a great boat, and you're so right that the tower is just the shizzle. It really brings out the lines of the boat. I really thought that tower was gonna be a mistake, but it's even better looking than the OEM one.

I so wish we were in a different place financially.

What did I call?

That's a sweet E21 (and S22)!  I saw your ad a couple weeks back and was concerned, but figured I'd wait for you to chime before posting a link to your ad.  Glad to hear you're staying on-board, and good luck with the new boat!!

Did it sell on E-Bay or do you still own it?

I agree that the lack of a wake makes this a great ski boat, which is one reason I bought it.  Barefooting requires (at least for me) a glass top lake surface and little wake.  I am getting real antsy to get my boat back on the lake, but there is still ice at the boat launch site.  Besides, my wife just looks at me like I'm crazy when I mention getting it back in the lake. Skiing season is about 3 months long here.  Unlike you young guys, the water temp needs to be 70 degrees before I am willing to go jump in the lake.
My next door neighbor bought a Malibu and constantly brags about his boat, how well it runs.  That was until we raced each other last fall and his Chevy 350 lost!!!  Now whenever I see him, I get in a couple of digs.  He really is a better barefooter. and would do anything to help any one.
Did I mention I hate the state of Michigan in the winter! >:(

No, the boat did not sell on ebay, got up to 17,300 which was close to reserve but not quite.  I think I will wait a couple months and re-list.  Its a little early for most parts of the country for boats.  I really want to take her out one more time myself, man I hate to sell this boat!  I know the S22 is gonna be great but the 21 is such a blast to drive and ride behind!  Someone please buy this boat that will appreciate it!  I have so many clueless people calling me from the auto trader ad and residual calls from the ebay run!  I hate to sell it knowing it will be abused for a few years and then discarded!  Maybe I am too Epic freakin out!

Cal, you've told other people before that I'm gonna request/require them to TAKE PICTURES. That's what I was referring to.

Hate to even ask this question, but has anyone tried getting a big wake out of the E21? Like 2K or so? Fat Seat? Seems that since the smaller/narrower hulls are easier to sink, they can throw good wakes. Anyone?
