belly rack
« on: April 02, 2005, 00:51:36 am »
I got the belly rack for for my spare tire today from Amertrail, and either I'm an idiot, or they sent me the wrong one, or not enough parts. I see the 3 tabs on the trailer, 1 on each side and on pointing down on the cross beam but the rack is not wide enough to span the trailer. Here is a picture of wht they sent.

Does anyone have a belly rack with a single axle trailer, and does it look like this? If anyone could take a picture of how it's suppose to fit, I'd appreciate it.

My X-22 had a belly rack that looked just like that one. I wonder if that Is an X-22 rack. The guys at Marine Products told me the d and v drive trailers are different. Maybe there isn't a belly rack for a v-drive.

I'll bet they sent the wrong one. If it fits my trailer, I'll buy it, or buy the right one for you. I'll take measurements tomorrow to see if it will fit my trailer.

There is a belly rack for the v-drive. Mine got replaced with two spare tire carriers because the under-trailer dillyo was not deep enough. The keel actually rode on the tire, and it looked like with a decent bump, you could see rim edge versus gelcoat. No esta bien, ya know?

As pimp as the under-trailer carraige is, just be aware that the bolt that holds the tire on is submerged in water every launch, and it threads into a nut that's welded to that bar there. We had to have it impact-wrenched off. We coulda lowered the tabs on the trailer, but that'd taken a welder and paint booth, or bent the rack, but it was already marginally small.

Got the side-mounts from west Marine and called it good. Still not happy with them riding so far forward, but whacha gonna do?

I have had one tire go every year since the second year. Always on the passenger side, I guess because they take the most abuse. I just the idea of having two spare tires, especially if I'm gonna trailer it for any distance.
