SATELLITE RADIO
« on: April 24, 2005, 20:02:01 pm »
I am ready to get xm radio in my S22 this year, and I don't want to use the fm modulator.  Does any one know which receivers with cd players word best, and where is the best place to mount the antenna.

Any help will be appreciated!!!

I just got an Alpine head unit and it works great. I'm using the Aux in for XM right now, but I may buy the alpine adaptor and tuner and antenna (100$ total) because the alpine can display the XM song titles etc on it's display. It also plays MP3's and the CD player does not skip. It's got three rca outputs too.

THe best, easiest place to mount the antenna is to run it up under the bow eye, all the way in the front of the boat. Anywhere else and there is usually someone or something blocking it. It would be a pain to put it on top of the tower, that would be the other best place.

I put my antenna on the top of my custom speaker rack (pictures to follow this afternoon)...I bought the marine kit for the delphi, it works ok, but it cuts out from time to time, I am thinking about changing the antenna to be like the one I have on my Tahoe and see if its any better....  I also bought a cable that fits into the CD Changer port on my Alpine deck and has two RCA outs... from there I go RCA IN to Headphone jack into the side of my Delphi... it works pretty well, although there is some signal loss from the connection of the two cables... not too bad for me, plus its WAY better than the FM modulator which sounds crappy when I crank it so I can hear the tunes while I ride...

I  bought a LoudLiquid box from them in about 99 when I bought my first boat and liked it SOO much I bought a new one for my Epic when I bought it last year... if you have the skill/inclination to custom build a speaker platform for the top of the epic tower then I HIGHLY suggest it, otherwise I had it hanging below the tower and kept bumping my head...

happy listening...
