1999 X-22 electrical issues (Not Gauges)
« on: June 06, 2005, 14:47:18 pm »

So I went out to find some calm water on a extremely busy Saturday on the lake, got bounced around by somw boat wakes from 30 Ft cruisers going 15 mph.  One of those waves completely shut my boat down.  No my boat runs intermitently.  Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't and when it runs everytime I hit a bump, it loses power to the engine and dashboard.  The battery is in good shape, when it gets power to the voltage gauge read 12 volts at rest and over 13 with the alterator running.  I have looked under the dash and around the engine for loose connections and found nothing.  Has anyone out there experienced a problem like this?  When power is getting to the engine it runs great, it holds a steady temperature and doesn't sputter.  The stereo works all the time, because the amp comes directly off the battery.  The bilge pump works when the battery switch is on as well as the blower.  Please get back to me with any ideas.  I just got the boat a few weeks ago and it has run great  until now.

Thanks
Justin

check the condition of the fuse holder that is next to the battery switch . Then the key switch wire in back maybe, not tight on the push on terminals.

FYI - I think I fixed the problem - I found an ignition wire under the dash that got loose from the breaker.  I think it was loose when I had initial trouble, then broke loose when I finally broke completely down.  When I lost power, the engine shut down, along with all of the dash board, but I still had power to the stereo, blower, bilge, and other systems.
