Need 99 Epic 22 petcock ASAP.

Hey Guys,
I'm glad I found this site! I have a 99 Epic 22 and need the port side petcock. I have called around to the local dealer and they cannot find them, my local Lexus dealer had a different petcock assembely that will not work. Rick from Toyota said the part was on backorder for two weeks. Does anyone know of a dealer that stocks these parts? I have really hit the wall up here, my local dealer stocks the oil filter, fuel filter, and nothing else, heck they're still trying to figure out how to use the parts manual. Any advise would be REALLY appreciated. Thanks, Carey Harkness

What do you mean by petcock, the block fitting? It is just a pipe fitting, pull the old one off and take it to Napa, see if they have a metric pipe plug with the same threads. Make sure it's bronze, I wouldn't put a black iron one in there. Use some anti seize or teflon tape on it. Put it in and go wakeboarding!

You don't know what a petcock is! If you need some help with that one, you could ask a couple of guys I know. Just call either Kirt Cundick or Mike Kunzler. I'm sure they'll know. There's your petcock joke Festivus. Actually, I don't know what a petcock is either. I was wondering why ssg needed a pet rooster for his engine. I didn't want to say anything because I just leave people to their own weird fetishes.

Maybe I'll see if NAPA can match something up tomarrow. I dont think a fitting from them will work, the stock fitting is machined and tapered at the end, I'm pretty sure the reason for that is to seal the water off in the fitting. Without that tapered end water might leak from the drain nozel that is welded on the petcock assembely. Maybe a napa plug will work though, because of the two week back order on the part it cant hurt try something else.

I don't handle my petcock as much as you, Bitzco.? I know it drains fine, and, when required, the rapid discharge feature is more then adequate.? As far as the taper, not so sure of the bevel degree angle.

It's just a pipe fitting, tapered thread is normal. Napa will have a plug you can put in place of it, no doubt.
