Buoygate

So they had the Malibu Open ski tournament last weekend on a private lake owned by one of the competitors.  As it happened, the owner of the lake was the first competitor in the tournament.  Shortly after his run, some of the crowd of 2,500 spectators apparently noticed that the slalom bouys were moving further apart from each other, making the course harder for all the competitors that followed.  The lake owner/competitor, who has some waterskiing world records, is being accused of moving the buoys with an elaborate underwater cable system! 

Buoygate has been all over the papers in Milwaukee this week.  It's also on Waterskiing Magazine's on-line site:
