« on: August 27, 2005, 09:32:04 am »
I looked at my pylon the other day and noticed it said something like dont attach anything but a rope to this pylon, etc.  I see in on the of the photos in the gallary has a boom on it.  Is it ok if I use one?  Thanks

I'm sure you'll be fine with one. Toyota has a lot of lawyers, which is why they are covered with disclaimer stickers:)

Scarab,
Barefoot international makes a boom for the E-22. you can also get one from Barts Water Sports #B204-TOY Deluxe Toyota Boom. I originally ordered a ECI Aggressor Boom that  customer service at Barts said would work.......NOT. The engine box is too close to the pylon for that boom to work. So I  called B.I. and told them exactly what I needed, They were
happy to straighten it all out with Barts. .
Even with the B.I. Boom you will need to move the engine box back about 1-2 inches. It is worth it.

See, my buddy in Lake Coeur D Alene had a 94 MasterCraft that was smashed to the ground like a pancake when the roof on his storage facility collapsed in the 96-97 winter.  He had a boom on it, but his new 97 MC had the windshield come down where the boom needed to go, so he couldnt use it anymore.  He hadnt used it in a while anyway, so it is still (Im assuming) sitting in his basement.  I looked at my E22, and there is enough room to have the boom go out the side, so I was planning on trying his boom out on my boat.  Does anyone think this will be a problem, as long as the pylon clamps are the same size?

Thanks,
Erik

We've got a Barefoot Int'l boom and it works fine with E22 engine box in its original position.

The question I've got is what you put between the boom and the pylon so you don't have metal on metal?  We've been using a washcloth and it works fine, but it doesn't look so great.
