Fellow I/O Owner needs winterizing help?
« on: November 09, 2005, 22:33:24 pm »
Most of you have had an I/O in your past life. Me..... outboards early then a E22
Could you direct me to a winterizing procedure for an I/O for this misguided friend
of mine. He is led by blind enthusiasm, and thinks he can do it himself. Which I think
he can also. Thanks in advance.
Curtis
PS. Where can you get those cool epicmarine.com emblems?

Curtis, you are way too nice putting your neck on the line for an I/O dude.  I'd say, figure it out yourself, and don't bother me anymore.  But...
My neighbor heard that I winterized my boat, so he had me come over to "help" him do his I/O.  I was basically a bystander, but he got a lot of water out by unhooking the hoses and we did find a few freeze plugs on the block.  It was actually easier than my Epic.  Of course, we'll see in the spring.
So see Curtis, I can be nice.  Just try me.

I think you are right. On all counts. He was talking about draining things and
then putting RV/Marine antifreeze in? That's where I got lost. On mine, stabil, oil
change, fog, drain block, including shower and heater, pull inlet hose, pull impeller, pull battery, clean carpet, wash interior, cut the hard water spots on the exterior with mild acid, wax, Walla! Then chill out.
See you all soon.

I winterize with the anti-freeze stuff. That way I don;t have to do anything in the Spring except drop that sucker in the water a get my freak on. Actually, ATL marine does it. I saw about 4 Epics up there this past weekend. One S22 same color and year(I think) as mine.

The down side is that once she put up - she's up. can;t take her out if we get a stretch of good weather..unless I pump that jungle juice back through her.
