ignition alarm

Does anyone know how to dismantle the ignition alarm when you turn the key on?

If you crawl up under the dash, turn on the ignition. You will be able to spot the little gizmo. It is a red or black cylinder about 1" in dia and 1" tall. It should have two wires attached to it. Disconnect one.

Is that the only noise making gizmo?  Won't this also disable the sound part of check engine or over heating alarms?
