HIN lookup
« on: February 06, 2006, 04:49:26 am »
I made quick search out of all the HIN numbers for all the boats made. Enter your hin number and see what you get. This is straight from TOYOTA, so it should be exactly what the sticker said new! If you leave the field blank and hit search, it'll show all 644 boats.

I'm  not sure wht the best way to use this is, but I'm sure ya'll will have some great ideas on how to tie it to the boat registry.

This is so KEWL!! We can all now say that we have one of xx made with this oddball combination of options and/or colors.

Thanks to TMS for releasing this info, their recent contributions have been very helpful and informative.

It would be cool if we could search by boat model, color, year etc.

This is awesome.  It would be interesting to know how many of each model were made in each year.

I tried my HIN and couldn't locate my boat.  I wonder if the database transposed numbers or had a typo from the HIN on my boat?

TMME2015H102

Maybe it was my own typo but I couldn't find it.

In looking at the HIN Decoder, it was probably a typo since the last three digits mean the year is was built and the model year.  If I'm intepreting this correctly, 102 would mean built in 2001 for model year 2002.

There is a HIN in the database of TMME2015H201 so they probably transposed the 201 instead of the correct 102 since I believe they didn't build any boats in 2002.

Does this look right?

Ill bet you're right. The original has the numbers incorrect. Do the features match your boat? I'll cahnge it in the database. Try again with your HIN number.

notice I put a count on the number of results.

Lesman, that is awesome. It couldn't come at a better time of year, either. The next thing you should do (besides taking a break HAH) is link the HINs in the registration DB. We could plug in the HIN of every Epic we run across, and between that and our own boats, keep a history of all of them. I'll write down a HIN of an Epic that I see at the dealer

I don't think there is anything personal in the registration DB? City and state and link to an email maybe?

This is awesome.  Based on a search by year, model, here are the results:

                1999       2000     2001     2002
E-21           87          17         10         4
E-22         109          53         23         2
S-22            0          29         74         7
X-22          40          64         60         7
SX-22          0           0         40        18

Does this look right?

Yes. I'm thinking on that one. I can merge the ones that are there already unless the concensus is that it's a privacy issue.......

ANd, for new boats registered, You can enter your HIN nunber and prefill many of the fields based on the mfg info, then fill in the rest yourself....

Still kickin it around.

I'm installing XM when it gets a little warmer...

Brad, if they all add up to 644, then it's right on. I'm too lazy to total your grid.

It took me a while to decode the HIN to spit out the model name, year, etc....Some of the codes where not like the decoder. Think i got it all match up though. If you see something wrong, lemme know....

I have it all decoded so if you wanted to search by manufacture month or one of the panel colors i can do that very easily.

I'd like to enter E21 serial numbers and find the gap where the screwed up boats were recalled and replaced.

Found mine. Can we get a link to this on the home page or maybe on the registry or Hin decoder page?

I was just looking and there were quite a few boats with the fresh water cooling option. I wonder how reliable it was.

I'm making a little progress. Almost there. I added a link to the Boat registry page to the Official HIN database search. The result page has all the data that was given to me, including stuff like the sequence number the boat was built, the manufacture month and other stuff based off the HIN number.

I'll work on sorting by columns and merging with all the user generated boat info  later.

Click on "my boat" on the results page and you'll see the officail data , then the info you entered when you registered your boat on this site. The primary key is the HIN number, so if you entered it wrong when you registered your boat, your info will not show.

I'll make it much simpler to use, but wanted you all to take a look-see.
