windshield removal
« on: March 28, 2006, 03:13:02 am »
so i went to remove the top part of the windshield frame so i can take it in to be powder coated and chickened out.  I removed all the necessary screws but got scared when i had to use some pressure to pop it off.  Is there a simple way of removing just that section of the frame and is it OK to use a little force?  i am afraid i may break the glass...any suggestions?

When I removed mine I took off the rubber weather stripping just above the base. This exposed all the mounting screws, which I then removed ( 11 or so on each side). after that I used a flat tip screw driver with the end taped up, set a towel under the area I was prying on and it popped up with little effort. I wasn't able to pick it up after just removing the screws. Don't sweat taking it off. Be careful screwing it back down. don't over tighten the screws.

I think you can pull it up pretty easily. There was some extra glass at Ski Masters I think. I think they are standard windshield sizes, dunno??

Capt. Rick, do you know if our windshields interchange with another manufacturer?
