starts and idles high, no gauges work and won't come out of idle even when throttle pushed all the way forward, even though the cable is moving. it will go into gear but just at idle speed.

Any ideas

Does the Epic light go on? Also,  shut of battery switch, and restart. If light is on it is in Fail safe mode. You need to find out engine codes, But sounds like throttle position sensor. Did you spray engine parts with CRC or LPS or other sprays ?

I thought it might be the throttle position sensor but would that cause all the gauges to stop working?

The gauges issue is not related to the No throttle response. If gauges dont work , Turn off power, unplug both harness to MDC or  MMDC, Power on and turn key on if all gauges dont flip to zero , bad Computer. You can send to me I can test: But, I have to charge some resonable fee:

Capt rick, that's good to know about the mmdc. So you are saying to power off with the green key, unplug both harnesses (white I think) from the black box (mmdc), then power back on green key, turn ignition key to on, and gauges should flip to zero? It seems like if you unplug them, nothing is going to the dash gauges, so how's it gonna flip to zero?

I'm asking because before my maiden voyage i tried to fire it up in the back yard with a fake a lake to make sure she'd run good, but got no dash readings and the lcd computer would not come on. I did here the buzzing of the mmdc when i turned on the battery key, but no dash. The perfect pass worked, of course. I dickered around with the harnesses to the mmdc (with power cut off) and actually popped the computer head(lcd unit) out. I did not see anyhitng amiss, but miraculously when I put the head back in and turned it back on, it worked fine. I'm gald it works now, but what bugs me is that I don;t know what I did to fix it. Are those computers that finiky?

I had tried previously to turn power off, back on , then turn the key on to no avail.

I installed XM about a month ago but am sure it all worked after install, so that can;t be it.

By the way, the engine would not start without the dash working. Once the computer started working, it fired right up. Does that sound right?

Sorry reinstall harness, before power -up and test,   Check ground black wire from engine ground to all harness.
