Towing From Rear Tow Eye
« on: April 14, 2006, 21:21:48 pm »
I notice my "new" E22 has a rear pop-up tow eye. There is a warning sticker that says not to tow over 800 pounds on this eye and not to use it as a lifting ring. Has anyone used this eye for towing? Looks like a great place to hook the tube when people are in the back seat -- just want to make sure its up to the task.

Also, there are two similar eyes on hull on each side just below the windshield. What are these for? Sorry for what are probably silly questions, but I'm sure they are there for a reason.

Pop- Up Cleats to tie boat to dock!

Rear Pop UP Cleat to tow as per legal notice of 800 pounds..

Now you dont have to tie the line to you toe to stay at the dock or pull a skiier, what what will we think of next.
Sorry had to say it !

Now I know...most of my other boats have been bay boats, and the cleats look a little different. Guess I don't have to worry about installing those 10" galvanized one I had my heart set on.

Cam here.? Recent purchaser of the purple/grey SX from Marine-Products in SLC.? Live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.? Was cleaning up the boat today and had to stop....? because of snow.

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand - tow eyes.? I expect to be doing lots of tubing for starters with the young ones and was wondering if that was the intent of the handle-like thingy halfway up the transom.? Doesn't look like a tow eye but seems way to solid to be a simple hand grab.

Professor?
Cheers, Cam.

Nah, don't tow with that. Use the pilon. With the pilon, you can do some serious whipin around of that tube. Frankly, I dunno what that handle is for except that larger passengers use it to pull themselves onto the deck. I lost 12 pounds the last couple of weeks with my tonsilectomy, so I don't need the handle any more. Now if I could just get up the gumption to lift some weights I'd be a lean mean boarding machine.

Side effect of rogaine! Doesn't work worth a darn on the head, but the arms are showing great promise.

We tried the rear tow eye with the tube yesterday. The eye held up well but the rope spent a lot of time in the wake. I tried to use the side cleats for tying up to the dock, but the line kept popping off. Guess I need to try a triple rap on the loop.

hey westtx

Go to barts or overtons and find a "Dock Buddy" they are elastic dock lines that are great.  The best $30 or so I have ever spent.  You won't have to ever go back and forth to tighthen you dock lines ever again.  Just stick the loop through the middle of your pop-up cleats and put the rope around the bar, the other end will fit around almost any dock.

Thrillseekers,
I think TMS was PMS on there sticker happy legal department.
pertaining to the 800lbs towing point. We've barefooted two
at a time from that hook up.
I'm surprized that they didn't put one on for "Skiing with boat might cause death or injury due to much of FUN". As for the getting in shape, 3-4
times a week, 3-4 sets a outing, that will get you good at least one thing.
P.S. Westtex, Sweet ride.
