I've already got one, but I've got a question for you.  Does your boom have a pad of some sort that goes between the boom and the pylon?

Ours doesn't, so I use a washcloth to avoid hacking up the pylon.  It doesn't look so great, but it does the job.  Just wondering if there is a pad out there?

I have a 1999 Epic 21. Did you have any problem fitting your boom to your Epic with the way the motor cover fits so close to the pylon?
How much do you want for your boom?
Skylon maakes a pylon protector for use with their extented pylon. It works very nice for that application and I would thinks that it should work with a boom.

Lakeside - do you take your boom mount on and off?
I don't have a pad but I keep the bracket thingy on the pylon all the time and I haven't had a problem. The mounting bracket is probably the most expensive rope holder available.  Maybe I have scratched my pylon up and don't even know it because I keep it installed.

Sailtl - the bracket will clear the vinyl on the engine cover but you need to be more careful opening and shutting it because the vinyl will touch the bracket and you don't want that to catch an edge - that would ruin your day.  The contour boom is the one I have as well - it has a bigger mounting bracket than most.

Yes Brian, I am the one you called on the boat when you were checking it out.

I don't know who the ski instructor would be but I know you got a great deal on the boat.  You can check my posts from the last couple of weeks and see that I probably would have bought it to re-sell if you didn't get it.

Heck I might have kept it and sold mine.

Keep the boat for at least a summer and I bet we can hardly pry it out of your hands unless the cash is REALLY good.  I don't know what you could replace it with even if the money were right.

eagle1wi,
I have a B.I. boom made for a Epic..... I did however move the engine cover to the stern about
1.5" with modified clips that loop around the motor box bolts. That way I feel a little more comfortable about the clearance when we open and close the cover. And the clearance
in the engine compartment is a little tight in one spot........The oil filter, to relieve that
I notched out the motor housing just a smidgen.

Wow Curtis, I am not that proactive.

Here are a couple of pics of my expensive rope holder aka: boom mount.

It does touch but I am just more careful about opening and shutting the engine cover.  It has crushed the foam now from being that way for years so it actually is less likely to damage or rip the vinyl now.

Curtis,
I would like to put a barefoot boom on my x22...what type of boom do you have again..I see that it is the barefoot international, is it the universal, or do you have a model #? Will my tower be in the way? And, would you happen to have any pics of this motor box mod you did for fit? I can see the other photos from eagle1...looks kind of tight on the box...I had a custom boom for my Supra and it will not fit this boat, the angle of the boom was a problem as was the mounting bracket. Thanks for your help....

Yesmar,
I called B.I. and they made a boom for the Epic's. The mount is a horseshoe
shape around the back of the pylon (thickness is 1"). Six seasons so far and alot of kids learning to ski. It also has a adjustment bracket that can be removed with a pin. (that doesnt show on the earlier pic). A contour
boom goes out the pass side or drivers. We have a Fac. tower with no problems clearing. In the previous post I moved the
motor box back to clear the bracket..I did...all is still good. I will repost when I get home the Model # from B.I. I would take more pic's, however
I sent my kids to Tenn for two weeks w/camera. Now I have to kick out
the list so I can (GO SKIING).

yesmar,
The item number for the boom was #B204-TOY. Originally I purchased an
ECI Aggressor boom, with the rep saying "yea it will work", not.......
Called B.I. direct and had it within 2 weeks. If you decide to get with
the B.I., go with the package, Pad, Gunnel saver, boom handle attachment
Adj. Boom Clamp Attachment "for different heights of individuals".
Good luck,
Curtis
