V-Drive Warning Light
« on: May 17, 2006, 05:40:47 am »
Couldn't find a thread about this so here goes...

My new (to me) 2001 SX has the V-Drive warning light on the left hand side of the top dash (as opposed to on the right hand side per the Manual).  The "V-Drive Temp" warning is illuminated all the time the Transmission is not in gear - but it goes out immediately when the transmission is engaged.  So presuming that the warning light are properly wired (in reverse of the Manual)...

Is this normal?  Is there a problem here?  If the transmission is not engaged, how could the V-drive be turning and how could it be getting hot?  Is this just an Epic idiosyncrasy?

Thoughts or your experiences anyone?

My SX does it also. It's a V-drive thing. Every other boat be it Malibu, Mastercraft, Sanger if its a V-drive the light is on when your not in gear. Don't sweat it, it does take some time to get use to.

I thought mine was always on, but seem t remember that it's actually never on, just a reflection makes it appear that it's on.

Thank you all - I'll just ignore it - except when in gear...

There was too many customer complaints on the warning light going on the Vdrive under 1200 rpm.  So, it was easier to remove the ground wire at the Vdrive sender. No warning light Now.
