When is the last time you've skied on two?
« on: June 03, 2006, 00:04:29 am »
Left the slalom ski in the garage over Memorial Day weekend, and after hours of watching the kids, the wife, the neighbors, etc. ski, kneeboard (yes, we still have one of those), and tube, I had had enough. I thought, "hey, I'll just throw on the pair of "trainer" skis we've had since 1980 and splash around behind the boat for awhile and enjoy the day."

Well, my last attempt on two skis was in the early 80's behind our 16 ft. tri-hull VIP with an 85 Johnson straining at full throttle. My wife, who only drives the boat when I'm in the water, is still learning the power the Lexus in our new Epic produces. When I yelled "hit-it", she did -- probably about 3/4 throttle, and like a beginner, my antique EP Combo pair quickly put me in a near-split condition. No problem, I thought, I'll just pull that right ski back in and ...... POP! There goes the hammy. I could actually hear it before I felt it.

The only good news...my wife drove the boat for the rest of the day and towed the rig home. Then she and my daughter unloaded the boat, sprayed it down with R/O water, dried it, and put the cover on while my son mowed the yard. She got me an ice-pack, poured me a Jack and Coke, and popped in the 24 DVD I've been catching up on. Damn! I highly recommend injuring yourself this weekend like I did. I'm going to try it more often!

Ouch! Takes at least 3 months to heal one of those! ;) ;)
