engine died twice
« on: June 09, 2006, 16:27:09 pm »
I have a 99 epic 22- I had just remarked to my wife that it was running unbelievably well, we were cruising at 25, and it shut down- I looked at this forum, and the engine cranked, but gauges didn't work, so I looked at the kill switch, and sure enough it started when I pulled the pin out with my fingers as far as it would go. Installed a new kill swith/new lanyard clip, and it started fine- had it idling in the dock as I got the tube ready and such, and it died-this time the gauges were frozen, and no crank from the engine. went back to this forum, it pointed me to the inline battery fuse, and found that it had corrosion- switched with the spare fuse, and the boat started right up. My concern is going back out in the water- were these two events related, unrelated? or what.
Thanks

Bigest problem was probably the fuse at the Perko switch. The fuse needs to be as close to the power as possible to protect the whole circuit, but with it hidden away it is neglected and forgoten. Clean the fuse holder up good and check it every so often for any corrosion issues.
