I guess I'll find out for myself, but I'm visiting the produce section with her.  I'll just be brutally honest and take my lumps ;)
As long as she stays away from the gourds and broccoli, I'm good to go.

All this talk of Melons and Malibu's has got me a bit bent out of shape.  I am not sure I could afford either one of them without more debt.  Those loan payments are no big deal when your playing with what bought them everyday.  They are quite another when you cant get out on the boat or melons but once a month or so.  Heck, now that I think about it, at least I go to Powell or Mead once a year or more, but I havent had a long weekend with the melons since I bought them.

Man I am proud to have those epicmarine.com decals on my boat!
I am broke.

I was scared when I read the "approach the ranger form the rear", but then saw the melon talk. All I gotta say about that kind of shopping is that the girlfriends usually start with, "oh, you could easily carry some melons" even though she's been looking for honeydews and you're happy with pomegranats. The question shouldn't be "how much can your cart carry", it should be "how much are you hungry for." The thing about melons is that everybody (even your family) will want a piece if it's big and juicy enough - that's not always so fun for you or her. Nice fresh honeydew can sort of fly below that particular radar when needed, but makes a great centerpiece when called for.

Luckily, mom went the way of the honeydew, but then with the newest kid, they've ripened just a friggin BIT. Got about five more months before we find out if they return to honeydew or ????

Man, 2003 was a great year - Sequoia, S22, new fruit...

Ps. In CA, we grow year-round. Ours was in July.
