Fishermen?
« on: July 07, 2006, 01:47:33 am »
OK, it happened for the second time in two years... we couldn't find a ski after it was dropped.  The lake was calm, so it should have been no problem to find.

Here's my conspiracy theory.  There were several fisherman nearby.  We were far enough away not to be a nuisance to them, but....

Has anyone heard of fishermen snagging a dropped ski just out of spite to us skiers who are having so much fun while they are so bored that they've got nothing better to do than snag a ski?

Man, It happened to me once.  I lent my favorite ski to someone who was just learning to slalom.  They needed a "drop" ski.  Never found it, it must be the fisherman conspiracy!

Haha- The drop ski idea is one of the worst... Haha- I was never allowed to do it because of the fisherman disappearence theory...  Had to learn the hard way ONE Ski and Only One - Ain't life tough???  LOL - fisherman suck... I see them all heading to lake as I get off work everyday with only like 2 hours of sunlight left...  Which I could find a second and third rider EVERYDAY so I could get in a few good runs every late afternoon just to piss them all off... Haha  -  7 & 7 (Best time to be on the water)  Calm and smooth  outside the wake...

My guess is that anyone picking up a drop ski doesn't ski and assumes the ski is lost. They probably think they are providing a service by clearing the lake of an obstacle and then spend the rest of the day looking for the "lost and found." We drove by a drop ski the other day with a large Clorox bottle attached by a nylon string...guess those folks came prepared to drop!

breakawaydaze-  Still have no clue about the water leaking issue... I took out some family last weekend and realized it wasn't a normal amount of bilge water.  While on the lake SPOTTED an Epic SX (kinda dissapointing - I wanted the only epic in TN)  Anyways tried my hardest to run them down but about a half a tank of gas later I figured they had some place to be...  Anyways back to the story-  So we were on the lake all day and after a 20min run or so I would bilge for around 10sec so its alot of water.  I am going to try and take the Epic out one day before work at like 6am to try and find the leak.  I have replaced the Exhaust hoses and water intake for engine hose.  The Balast I have completly removed do to the fact I need a new water puppy- So the Valve is in the OFF position.  I have the drippless coupler on the prop shaft so that can't be it.  The Engine Compartment stays dry and the temp is always around 160-65 so I don't think it has anything to do with that.  That Pretty Much leaves me with the rudder (or so I figure)  I tried to mess around with it for about 15 to take off the bass plate and all but the was ATTACKED by Misquitos so ended up spraying the lawn for those darn things.    I'll try and keep you all posted about the leaking WHATEVER...
As Far as the Roundup goes I will try and make it down for that Saturday-  Friday is a negitive but I might drive down Friday night to get on the water ASAP saturday morning.  I'll post this to the tread about the round up but: Would anyone be interested in getting a design and ordering up some t-shirts.  If nothing else but for everyone that attends the Roundup but it would be cool for the family to sport around Epic Apperal as well.  End up costing like 12-15 a shirt...  Just a thought...

Haha- sorry to get off tread topic -

Tenn, are you suggesting that you can get them printed? I can work up a couple t-shirt designs, but wold not know where to start to get them printed....

In fact, lets start our own line of Epic apparel. t-shirt, cap, stickers(Brad?), thongs, kozzie, keychains, etc... I volunteer for the design and we could sell up right here through the site. NOt sure what trademarks we'd be enfringing on, or if TOyota would even care...

Man I might even quit my day job....

Haha- Yeah I can get them printed and deliver them at the ROUNDUP.    As far as the full line of apparel everything soulds good but the thong...  haha- I am sure I can get some kozzies and keychains printed up as well.  I know a guy that does alot of promotional items so he might be able to cut us a deal (he was trying to hook me up with his daughter so I can use that).    As far as Toyota Trademark - They pretty much left the Epic owners high and dry (except me with the leak)  -  So thats the way I feel about it...

Off topic but by bilge was going on way too much so I checked the packing. leaking like crazy even when just sitting there. I was only able to turn it about halfway by hand and couldn't figure any way to get any wrench in that cramped space to move it. Don't know if a wrench would even be appropriate. Don't want to break sumpin'. Seems like I've read that somebody used a wrench though. If so, what sort of wrench could you use? I'm off to Powell in a couple of days, so can't get it in to Marine Products and repacked.
