Is there anybody out there with an SX that has ballast issues besides me? (before I go into my list of issues...)

I have a 2001 Sx.  The only problem I have is the guages go crazy when fillling or emptyinng which is supposed to be due to a bad ground wire.  It will sometimes lose prime.

My guages aren't plugged in, haven't found the female part of the plug yet to see what's up. The only thing I can get to happen seems to be a result of the wiring from the factory. -Not sure how to correct it.

When I hit fill, it fills and drains at the same time. When I switch the wires around I get nothing at all.

Also I did the transom shower install and I have only cold water pressure. My hot water is a cute little trickle. -I have a hard time finding it all that cute.

I think I'm just going to sell it, cry for awhile, and move to California.

-I'm not kidding. :'(

Check Out the SX wiring diagrams posted in the 'How to' section of this website.  Maybe that will help with some of the issues...

As far as selling....

Only stick with it if you're committed. If you can walk away now, then now is your time.

Lots of good SANs, X-xxxx's, Tige's and BU's out there for resale.

The one thing I'm sure of is that if Toy was still in the business, they'd have wrapped things up by now. No other production boat can hold a candle to the quality of these. They're underpowered for a serious wakeboarder, and the wake shape is rampy (but clean).

If they were still in business, I'm sure they'd be breaking out a new hull and would be marinizing eitherthe 4.7L or the soon to be released 5.5L. Then, they'd be selling at X-Star prices.

sorry for the rambling.....

Did you check the flapper thingy in the pump.  I changed mine last year and it works great.  They just wear out over time.

Nah, you're not rambling...good to know I'm not crazy. I really dig the boat. If Toyota only made quads and dirtbikes....schwing!!!

Finally no other little pretty boy will be parked down at the boat ramp with 20" blades and a boat identical to mine. In Austin every kid has the same new supra or nautique just like all the other high schoolers parked at the ramp. With daddy's credit card in their wallet.

It's an '01 by the way. Vin ____005. Belonged to the factory. Has all the options even possible. Got a title in August of '02 just so it could be legitimately sold after the shutdown. Runs like a champ on 'roids.

Put a pic of her up on www.wakeinnovations.com -It looks like an icon, but click on it and it will resize. I'm getting a new set of logos from domednumbers.com when I get the cash.... My kids (or the dog anyways) will probably not get to go to college... :-\

I know that my dealer was retrofitting Rule 1100's and seacocks to X22's with ballast issues, replacing the original Jabsco Waterpuppy impeller pumps. Toyota was the first manufacturer to use these, they all do now. Both pump types (impeller and aerator non self priming) have their good and bad points. I don't know what pump they used with the SX. Take a pic of the ballast pumps, valves, switches etc. I can help, I've put about five different types of ballast systems in my boat so far! There are simple fixes for all your problems.
