PERFECT PASS!!!
« on: August 31, 2004, 03:14:13 am »
Works no problems. I decided to just try it with a simple extension on the throttle arm and a slightly reduced throttle throw, reaching 70% or so of WOT. It was driving be crazy that I couldn't make it perfect, but the end result is:

I was getting 38.4  mph or so @ 5900 rpm, now I get 36.3 @ 5650 rpm.

Big Lambing deal, I don't need those extra 2 mph. It ain't a barefoot boat!

Totally perfect control, when it locks on and I'm not in a turn its +/- .1mph.

I will finalize a bracket design for PP in the next week or so, but I recommend that you get PP now. I'll post dimensions for the simple extension I made, it's a no brainer. Sorry I was so hell bent on making things perfect for so long. My problem.

Get PP Now!

I had a full skylon locker sack in the trunk, 600 lbs or so and a full sack in the walkway, 580 lbs. It worked equally well with or without weight. I adjusted the KDW for slightly more aggressive control with the weight.

It is an adjustable parameter to make the system more or less aggressive. In control terms, it's proportional gain. More or less throttle for a given speed offset from setpoint.

There is also a parameter called NN which is an exponential filter on the paddle wheel input, if the system seems to hunt around too much. I haven't found a reason to adjust this one yet.

Guys, I have to tell you that the Perfect Pass is the best thing I ever did to that boat. I rode more this weekend than I did in the last three months, simply because ANYONE can now pull me with the exact same speed. NO more wake widening out while I'm in the air because the driver slowed.

I had several of my sons friends that had never driven an inboard before pull me with no problems at all.

Not yet but I can send you detailed info very soon. I could talk you through it basically. Send me a private message when you get the kit and I'll send you my phone number.

I used it tonight with about 1300lbs of weight and my 11 yr old driving, it was like the pro tour  ;D It's too bad the seasons ending :(

I saw a guy wearing a wetsuit today. It was 82 deg F, water temp was 76 deg f. What a pussy!

I made a couple and could send you one. There isn't much to it! They look a little different but the critical dimensions are the same.
