Locating an Epic. Help
« on: November 14, 2004, 02:11:54 am »
does anyone know of any S22's or SX for sale out there?  My brother almost bought this one from a listing on boattrader.com

http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/4/3/76564143.htm

the guy sold it yesterday.
Are there any other internet sites that anyone would recommend for finding an epic?

Just trying to spread that Toyota feeling.

Les, your S22 is the second best color scheme out there behind Cal's all-black. I'm an authority on the subject.

Just got to my room in Korea. Got to LAX 21 hours ago. Been up for 25. Ready to go home now ;-)

I am pretty sure he got his 24 bills.  I have another friend here also looking for a new boat, and he was ready to pull the trigger on the deal, but alas, black friday.
I think the best color scheme of all is the black/white  X-22.   I haven't seen an SX except in the yellow/prpl or grey/purple.   Of course I am biased on the S-22. (See true blue to the left)

This is a great deal, I was hoping to buy it myself but can't do it right now.

2001 TOYOTA MARINE Epic SX22, 22' !!! PRICE REDUCED to $27,900!!! 2001
Toyota Epic SX22 Wakeboard/Ski boat. Lexus 300HP aluminum block V8 engine.
Excellent condition. Kept in covered, dry storage and professionally
maintained. This is a great boat with plenty of power, good control, and
tournament quality wakes for both wakeboarding and skiing. Well designed
with plenty of room for family, friends, and gear. Seats are made of heavy
duty foam and thick, high-quality, white and light metallic blue vinyl.
Open bow with plenty of lockable storage in the rear trunk, compartments on
either side of the engine, and beneath the seats. Large built-in ice chest.
Helm controlled, high-speed fill/discharge ballast system for excellent
wakeboarding. Includes a trampoline bimini top and Sunbrella boat mooring
cover. Tandem wheel trailer with spare tire. This is a fantastic boat that
we have thoroughly enjoyed. We chose this boat over others for its quality
and intelligent design. However, circumstances require that we must sell it
at this time. Additional pictures are available at our web site:

Festivus

In August, I bought an X22 Direct Drive.  I am very happy with it, but I kept looking just to see what other deals came about.  I found this boat on ebay at the same time I was looking for my boat.  At that time, the Buy It Now price was at $28,000.  It never sold on ebay.  The guy then recently put it on boattrader.com for about $24,000.  I told him I only had $20,000 to spend.  He then met me at $22,000.  I waited a while and he then moved down to $20,500, so I am sure you can get this boat baught for $20,000 or less.  Here is the information on it:

The boat has about 300 hrs on it
the ballast is automatic and holds 600lbs.
the stereo is both a cd player and changer
the boat has a snap and pull over cover both come with the boat
no lights on tower but you could ad them very east
Storage under seats and port side cubby. also on both sides of motor.
The upholstery looks good but it has standard wear a few small nics in the upholtery nothing major.

-The seating is 10 and the weight is 1440 bs for the boat
-No sorry the owner has already dispersed that stuff out so no other gear is included.
-the tower is not equiped with wake board racks but it would be very easy for you to add some
-the hp of the boat is 300hp
-The Bimini top is a folding trampoline so it will roll up and attach to the tower
-Yes the trailer has brakes and there disc
-Yes the boat has full snapping cockpit / Bow /  and full boat cover that covers the tower.
-the shower is hot and cold
-Yes the pumps for the ballast work and it takes around 5 - 10 min to fill depending on if your moving or sitting still
-I have attached more pics of the boat so you can see the inside and out a little better.
-Yes the tower is collapsible
-the fiberglass is clean no major damage anywhere it looks good the boat has a few bumps on the bumper but thats what it is there for. again no damage to boat or rail.

I don't know of any problems with the boat it starts and runs like a champ. The decals are different so the boat would be a one of a kind on the water There a several Epics were we boat and this way mine was different.. No the boat hasn't been through any major problem's like sinking or on fire.. This is just what i think i can get out of it at the end of the season and I need it quick.

I have a lot more pictures that he sent me.  If you would like me to email them to you, email me at mvermeer@marcus-mer-cleg.k12.ia.us.  The guy is located in Riverton, UT.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  There is a sideview picture of the boat attached.

Read this thread before you consider buying that particular boat. It is well known on this board.

I'm going to ditto Pete's comments... be skeptical of this boat.  Please read the thread above!

Or if you don't want to follow the link and would rather the quick summary...

We have very good reason to believe this is the hull which was copied to make the EOS boats (www.hydroswiftboats.com), which have a nearly identical hull and interior to the Toyotas, except that they are made very cheaply.  Our best guess is that this boat was ripped apart, measured, and rebuilt the mold for the EOS boats.

And let me guess...the salesperson you talked to was named Jason.  Tell him I say hi!

By the way --

Look in the background of the photo mvermeer took from the bow of the Epic, looking towards the stern.

Cal

That is correct, his name was Jason.  At first when I saw this boat, I was kinda bumbed because I could have gotten a v-drive for a really great price.  But now after reading through that post and hearing what you guys found out about the boat, I am greatful that I chose the machine that I chose.  I wondered what the deal was with this boat and why it was selling for so cheap.  Now I know why.  Thanks for the information guys and Festivus, I would not make this purchase now that I know the history behind this boat.  Before I knew this information, I thought it would be a great buy for someone.  But after finding out the history of it, I would not recommend this boat to any of our guys on this post.  Sorry for the bad post, but thanks to the educated ones for standing up and being heard with what they knew about this boat.  Thanks fellas.
