Got to test out the perfect pass Saturday and I'll echo everyone elses comments that this boat rocks with Perfect Pass.  It has such a strong and consistant pull that I had the best set of my life behind it on the first run!  And being the driver is soooo much better because now I can actually watch the rider and not have to stare at the rpm gauge and speedo.

Just ordered perfect pass 2 minutes ago!  Giddy like a school boy ;D  Which instrument did Y'all replace to accomodate your marriage saver?  By the way, the tech guy at Perfect Pass said they wouldn't have made a kit for the toyota if it weren't for my peeps at cyclone-cj.  Madd-love fer-ya

Congrats on the PP. Yes, the PP install kit contains the bracket Pete designed plus a copy of the install instructions on www.epicmarine.com.  I hope pete's gettin royalties or something for his design...I replaced the speedometer, as most do, I think. Make sure you turn up your speedo pickup or remove it.

I rode behind PP this weekend. ?It was nice. ?I think it is about $1700 installed for me to do it to my S22. ?I just don't know if I want to keep pouring money into this boat. ?I love it, but it isn't going to last forever, so when do you go "I am retarded. ?I have more money in upgrades than the boat is even worth."???
My shopping list of upgrades also includes a heater, a shower, a travel cover, internal ballast would be nice, etc...
It's like adding rims and tires to a Gremlin. ?It was great in its time, but you just can't upgrade the model to new again. ?I didn't mean to compare Toy to Gremlin. ?Who even made that hideous little beast? ?Probably GM, their r/d design team is pathetically ignorant.

That means they get $600 to install it, not to mention tax, which you don;t pay cause it comes from canada if you order directly from PP. Surely one of our breathren wold help you install it. You could prolly buy Pete a plane ticket to do it.  ;)

If I had not gotten a sign from above in the form of a $1000 work bonus last month, i'd be in your shoes, too, though.

I'd like the one with the v8: http://www.decodesystems.com/gremlin.html

Don't worry about pooring money into your boat.  Things like perfect pass add to the value of a boat.  For instance, My Epic 22 cost me $31,000 brand new.  Next to it was an x22 brand new for $39,950.  The only difference was a 10 disc changer ($250) , insufficient 520lb ballast (a rival 1200# system is $1400), depthfinder ($100), and a Tandem trailer (about $1000 more than a single).    To upgrade my boat to the same as an x22 would be about $2750.  That puts my boat at $33,750.  Bargain.  Add perfect pass and shazam...serious bang for the buck.  Now look at the price of a boat with 1200# ballast, Perfect Pass, tandem trailer,  heater, shower, and a nice stereo.  You are looking at $40k for entry level with sh%@#y fuel economy.  And hey, if you ever did wear out the engine, and I know I'm a sinner for saying this, it probably wouldn't be a huge ordeal to put a 350 merc under the doghouse.  after all, the engine is about the only piece that isn't available on a non-toyota.  O.K. i'm rambling time to mow the yard

Let me start by saying you do NEED Perfect Pass!!!! It's the greatest thing since free love. And you CAN do the install yourself. If ya got the DD Cal will walk you through it, if ya got the V give me a jingle. The ladies like to use the shower when they go piddle because it keeps their hooha warm while it's splashin in the chilly water. It's not about them it's about you, so you DON't need the shower. The cover is nice to have. Internal ballast is cool, but sacs are significantly cheaper. And you can always load your boat up with honeys. There usally free or at least CHEAP ;D. I got a heater and I love it. Would highlly recommend you get one.

So here is how you should propose the wish list to your wife.
COST
PP  1100
travel cover 600
heater    about as much as shower
Sacs/pumps 500
TOTAL 22 bills

Savings
PP install 600
internal ballast  1000
shower about as much as the heater
TOTAL 1700 green backs

Your out of pocket expense is only 500 smackers
So not only do you tell your wife about all the great things you (WE) can get for the boat for only 500 bucks you should through in there somewhere that you saved 1700 $. Maybe even suggest she get her self something nice with a bit of that 1700 you saved. Not very cost effective, but maybe you'll get something good out of that TOO.
Don't worry about it if all this is confusing to you it will make perfect sense to her.

What a support group!  My reason for a shower is because it gets so cold here, a little water in the wet suit and it really nuetralizes the freezing water coming in.  Travel cover is a no brainer.  The PP would be nice... and you're telling me, even with the small amount of my brain that has been alloted to all things mechanical, that I  can install it myself?  (I did change the tire on my great trailer last weekend, oh yeah!)  OK, so I'll muggle it over.  It's not like I'm going to throw my S22 on ebay with no reserve or anything so I can run and buy a new Malibu or something.  Bitz and I are working on solutions.

Got it, here are the pics. With the SX and ballast tanks being in the way, we decided to put the flywheel further back. They didn't think it would matter a bit. I also didn't want to lose any gauges so I had it installed at the bottom of the dash. I can't wait til spring and the chance to try it out. I'll let you know if positioning of the wheel matters or not.

Finally got to take the boat out and try out the PP for the first time. How did I ever live without it. Smoooooth! I'll have to tinker with the adjustments a bit, but it worked amazingly well. Once I get my gps out with it, calibrate it, and set the right settings it should be flawless. No more getting jerked around by my wife while she's trying to drive, avoid other boats, control the speed and control the herd of kids in the boat.

It was 76 degrees in the air and 54 in the water yesterday at Willard Bay. In the full wet suit it was pretty tolerable except on the hands. Brrr.  Got a lot of fingers from the multitude of fishermen out there. I was told the "stripers" or something like that were bitin' so the fisherdudes in their pontoons and canoes and little trollers were all over the place. There is still ice at some of our mountain lakes, so it'll be Willard fer a while.

Also, for anyone with an SX, with the ballast tanks it would be a chore to install the flywheel where PP recommends. We put it in the easily accessible back in my boat and it doesn't seem to matter. Works like a charm.

I think you need to pay more respect to the others on that lake.  It was created as an overflow area from the Great Salt Lake, and those fishermen are doing their dangdest to control the Striper population.  If you remember back in the '82, the Striper population went unchecked and that one waterskier got tangled in a school of 'em.  They never did find his carcass.  So maybe those "fingers" you are getting are well deserved.  Remember, Utah state law dictates 100ft' of clearance between each boat multiplied by the number of active fishing rods.  That can sometimes be equal to like 800'.  Just be careful, that's all I'm saying.   There's a fist attatched to each "finger"

Glad to hear that the PP works like it's supposed to. It is the best thing I ever bought. I can see why the paddle wheel would work well in the back, easy to access, too.

I pissed off some "wakeboarders" today, they were trying to wakeboard in their brand spankin new x45 in 15 knot winds while hundreds of boats whizzed by. They started giving me the business when I drove by with my kids on the tube. I tried to explain to them politely that they were flat f**king stupid for trying to wakeboard in crappy conditions at the worst time on the worst day of the week. Oh well. They'll figure it out.

I had forgotten about those striper deaths. I'll be more careful when I strafe the fisherdudes. Pete, I hate those days when I can't board or anything, but it is a perfect time to give the kiddies a ride on the tube. A bit o chop makes the ride all the better for em. It might be fun to play ring around the rosie with the kids on the tube and the canoe troller in the middle.

You can probably pull four tubes at once with that sweet ride in your profile!
