Hello to everyone
« on: June 09, 2005, 04:51:03 am »
I just registered but have been visiting as a guest for several months. I found the place when I saw Breakawaydaze's boat for sale and started doing reserach. You guys were a vital resource. I recently bought his Epic 21. He and I got to know each other well during the process and if he is representative of the crowd, I look forward to getting to know the rest of you. I only have about 5 hours in the boat but love it. Breakawaydaze kept it absolutely immaculate. When he delivered the boat (how's that for going the extra mile?!), there was no way to tell it from a brand new boat.? I live in Atlanta and keep the boat at Lake Hartwell. If I can be of assistance to members of the forum, just let me know.

Welcome aboard! Actually, we're all Japanese. Except Bitzco and Festivus - they're redneck. To the bone.

I'm gonna have to go back and get refreshed on Breakawydaze - he's not the one with the custom tower on the 21, is he?

Although I saw a really trashed Epic at a dealership in Dallas, I think for the most part us TOYOTA dudes know what we've got and take good care of them. Combine that with the FACT that they might be the best-built towboats ever and hopefully we end up with a lot of Epics out there looking good for many years to come.

Nice to have you, and look forward to the pics of you (E21), Lesman (S22), and Pete (E22) out on the lake together. You've also given me one more reason to try to get to Atlanta this summer ;-)

Holy Epic, Lesman, I live on Payne?s Creek!! You will not be able to miss the big ol Ga. Tech banner hanging from the dock ? bright yellow background. I did it in response to all of the UGA flags everywhere but the DNR guy suggested that the wakeboaders are probably aiming for me because of it. We most likely will be at the lake during the 4th weekend. I did get your cell phone number and will call. I hear Breakawaydaze is a party animal so we ought to get him to plan a get together sometime during the summer. How many people live within reason (or have unreasonable habits)?

Gr8DNA- Yes, its got the custom tower-

Hey Wreck glad to have you on the site. I have my boat on Lanier but Hartwell is just a short trip up 85 from me, so I think I'll try to hook up with you guys up there. We could have an east coast Epic get-together. My older son and my wife will be with me.

How is Hartwell for camping out on islands? Or should I try to get a campsite at that campground you mention, Les?

Payne's Creek campground is beautiful. Every campsite is right on the water. I hear it stays booked. Camping is allowed on islands and  I have seen some pretty neat set ups on islands just big enough to set up a tent to isolated coves on larger islands. Hartwell is a great lake but will be crowded on the 4th. However, accordng to my brother-in-law that is on Lanier quite a bit, a busy 4th of July on Hartwell is about the same as a Tuesday in August on the south part of Lanier. I haven't been to Lanier in years- that was his comparison. If you are heading up, let me know the type set up you like and I will try to scout out something and possibly even set up a tent before people begin to arrve to reserve a spot for you.

yes, I just checked www.reserveusa.com and there are no site available at Payne's creek campground for the 4th weekend. Not surprising. I'll be there the 3-6, so it might not be too bad tuesday and wed.

Wreck, that sounds good. It's always nice to scam a spot before others get there! I am not sure where I'll be, I'm going to BC for the next couple weeks, hopefully I won't get stuck there over the 4th.

Lanier is really not that bad, there is nobody out there on a Tues, its only the south end on weekends that's a madhouse. We do the same thing, stick up a tent in the primo spot on Thurs nite or Fri morning, good to go.

Cyclone and Lesman,

Our plans changed a lilttle. We will be leaving in the morning but returninig to Hartwell Sunday PM. If you are in Payne's Creek, feel free to drop by the dock (yellow banner). Also, there should be fireworks in the cove adjacent to the public ramp at Payne's Creek campground. Last year it was great. We just aren't sure if it will be Sunday or Monday since the guy that buys the fireworks and sets them off is in Myrtle Beach and forgot to tell anyoine when he is comiing back!

Cyclone - i wasn't able to park a tent at any of the spots I thought of for you. I went out this morning early and apparently people beat me by a few hours (The spots were avaialble at sunset last night.) If you can't find a spot to your liking, you are welcome to stay at our place.

Hey Wreck, appreciate the call. I'd call you back now but it's proly too late.

Our plans have changed as well, we may not even be going up this weekend at all. Latest plan is to take nxt friday off and go up next weekend. I'll call if we go up Sunday or Monday.

We normally put in right there at the paynes creek ramp.

Thanks for trying anyway, Wreck. I may just drive up for the day on Mon, but my younger son is going to 4h camp around noon, so I'm not sure how the timing will work. I don't have to work Tues, so I may run up there. I'm not familiar with the lake so that scares me a bit because 4 july is usually a madhouse everywhere.

The crowds are one reason we changed our plans but people will begin to clear out Monday mid-afternoon. Once we return Sunday PM, we will most liikely be here through the following weekend so everyone feel free to drop by for a cold one. Later in the week/the followinig weekend might be a better time to kick around as the lake will be radically different and much more enjoyable with no one here. We might even be able to get Breakawaydaze to join us to set a record for the most Epics at one spot! We are all so close to getting this done, we need to complete it!
